The Piešťany Town Library also tries to develop international cultural co-operation as part of its numerous events. For several years, we organise paintings competition “Piešťany/Heinola through the eyes of children” in co-operation with the Piešťany twin town Heinola (Finland). Apart from the paintings exhibition, a calendar composed from the winning works is always the result of this event.
In 2008 we have started the co-operation with the Czech Centre in Bratislava, Czech Republic Embassy in Bratislava and the Jiří Mahen Library in Brno. Since then, we regularly bring different genres of the Czech culture to the local spectators – the theatre performances for the kids, varied exhibitions and encounters with the Czech authors for the adults.
