Fairytale about Garlic
In March 2013, the Folklore Agency Buchlov, the foreign representative of the Czech Tourist Authority - CzechTourism Slovakia in cooperation with other partners announced a literary contest for pupils of elementary schools and elementary art schools, up to the age of 15, on the topic “Fairytale about Garlic” with the subtitle “Garlic is the Main Hero, Garlic Wins, Garlic has the Best Qualities and Characteristics, and, Quite Simply, Nothing is Better than Garlic!“.
The Town Library, as a partner organization of the event, announced this event to schools within the Piešťany region. Schools taking part in the event included the F. E. Scherer Elementary School in Piešťany and the elementary school in Drahovce. A pleasant surprise was that both of these schools placed in the competition. Barbora Rusnákova from the elementary school in Drahovce won second place and third place went to Katarína Juricová from Scherer Elementary School in Piešťany. The young authors were presented with their awards on June 24, 2013 at the Piešťany Town Library by the director of the Czech Tourist Authority - CzechTourism Slovakia Nora Gill.
